Last term, you may have heard that a Stanford Prof who did his grad degrees at UW gave $25million to the school of computer science. In case you haven't seen any of the new school letterhead, his name is David Cheriton. Not many people know who he is, so the Imprint editor took it upon himself to do some digging. Or more accurately, he used Imprint's only real research tool: Google (in which Cheriton was one of the first investors) and found an article about his divorce and wrote a grandstanding opinion piece about how it was immoral for UW to take the money because he had a rough divorce. Classy. So mathNEWS asks, what would the Imprint spin be on other campus news?
Now we all know that Imprint needs to make up controversy every now and then, because it's either that or actual journalism to keep people reading, but in the future we hope Imprint can write their half-baked opinion pieces about things other than people who give us lots of money while asking for little in return.
