Hello wonderful Mathies!
Nadia Novikova here, your friendly neighborhood MathSoc Prez. So, the first mathNEWS is here, wonderfully funded by your MathSoc dollars. You know what else is funded by your MathSoc dollars? Well, just about everything we do! And if you've got some ideas on how we should spend those dollars, go ahead and email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Or, if you want, you can get your mathsoc dollars refunded - except you can't, because you're already using one of our (favourite) services, you're reading the mathNEWS. Too bad, so sad. But the mathNEWS is totally worth it!
Anyways, so I should really be using this space to update you on all the stuff we've been working on here at MathSoc. A hugely successful MathSoc Day was held during O-Week, and a Welcome Week ran all through this week (but seeing as it's Monday right now while I'm writing this, I'm not going to tell you that it was hugely successful - you know, not to jinx myself)! But, better than that, we now have (drum roll) Directors! And that means the Exec can finally move their sleeping bags out of the MathSoc office and let the Directors take over the slumber party. And plan events, delicious free events! Which means that next mathNEWS I'll get to tell you all about the awesome event line-up, and take credit for planning them =) Woo-hoo!
Also, this term we'll be working on a few new projects, like reopening the 3rd floor balcony (ok fine, an updated very old project) and launching new services through MathSoc (a laptop cleaning service anyone?). If you've got some ideas, drop me a line and we'll see what we can do =).
In other news, have you ever noticed that the DC foyer smells like mushrooms? Or am I the only one?
Anyways. I think I'm done now. Email me. I like emails. email@example.com.
