Yes, we do have standards

There are those who would look at mathNEWS and simply refuse to believe that these articles are screened for quality before being printed. And yet, as an ex-editor with three terms under my belt, (along with my pants and a variety of lint), I know precisely what our standards are, and what articles should be rejected.

Okay, fine. So I didn't reject any. But what follows is a list of articles, along with excerpts, that I would have rejected, given a chance.
