Nothing much today so I'll make it short

First off, I have some explaining to do. You've probably already noticed that this issue is a week late. Well, you see, because of the budget problems both us and the Society are having, I had to cancel the issue I wanted to do for October 11^th. However, I already had everything in place for an issue on October 25^th (the issue you're reading now) so I decided to stick with the original schedule. That would explain why there was no issue last Friday.

Second, I usually have a column long rant for every issue. But not today. You see, I just wasn't inspired. And I wanted to spare everyone from yet another serving of tripe like the one I conjured up in Issue #2. Sure, I could go on about the GM strike (if it's still going) or sports or how much my life sucks or something else trivial or meaningless. But I won't.

I ask you please consider the new funding proposal for mathNEWS over the next week or two. And maybe by that time, I'll have something for Issue #4. Maybe not. We'll see.
