Have you ever seen squirrels licking thrown-away muffin paper? I've seen it twice, and felt quite sympathetic. Do they not have anything better to eat? They can't eat our leftovers! If they do have better food and just want to have a taste of muffins out of curiosity, then there wouldn't be any issues raised. But this is not the case. There is a lack of food available to squirrels. I even thought of intentionally throwing muffins in those squirrel- concentrated zones (living in one of the colleges, I enjoy the advantage of taking unlimited food ;). Some people will point out that squirrels could become over-populated if I did anything like this, and consequently we, human beings, may one day turn out to eat leftovers of squirrels! But if you see a squirrel licking muffin paper, don't you feel sympathetic? What should we do?
