In a shocking announcement yesterday, the Computing Facility at UW reported that they will continue the split of their resources. A mere month after the first split into MFCF and CSCF, pressure was put on the Facility by some of the departments to also have their own servers.
"CS isn't the only unique program within the Faculty of Math," said a disgruntled Stats prof. "It's time we got our own STCF!" The idea received similar support from Actuarial Science as well, and was also well-received by other departments. "Why the hell would we want to have all that statistical and actuarial software clogging up our servers?!?!" remarked a C&O prof. Not to be left behind, AMCF, COCF, and PMCF are on the way. "We don't know what we'll use them for," said a PM prof, "but it would be so cool! Now where do I catch the system bus anyway?"
CS has also embraced this idea, with plans to create ISCF, CGLCF, ISGCF, PLCF, AICF, ORCF, SECF, and a plethora of others. In fact, if the process continues, every student in the faculty will have their own CF, and only in approximately O(nlogn) time! Imagine how efficient that will be!
